Browsers
and DHTML
Internet Explorer supports in contrast to Netscape:
- event bubbling through object hierarchy
- all elements (tags) as programmable objects
- dynamically changing the page at runtime (with
adaptation of text flow)
The LAYER tag of Netscape offers many possibilities
(moving, clipping etc.). It is not recognised by the W3C.
Remark 2001: Newer versions of Netscape support more
events, but the example with CSS that has been used in
this presentation still only works in the Internet
Explorer. Apart from that, in newer versions of Netscape,
suport for the LAYER tag has been given up.
